Sheriff: Investigation underway after 3 shot in Gaffney on Christmas morning

GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) –

The Cherokee County sheriff said his deputies and Gaffney police are investigating after three people were shot in Gaffney early Christmas morning.

Sheriff Steve Mueller said deputies were called to the hospital after the three victims arrived at the hospital around 1:16 a.m.

Two of the victims told investigators they had been shot on East Junior High Road somewhere between Ewing Middle School and an apartment complex. One person had been shot in the hand and the other in the abdomen.

Mueller said the victim shot in the abdomen remained in critical condition Tuesday.

The sheriff said a third victim at the hospital was reportedly shot in city limits near Holland and North Bernard streets.

The victims told investigators someone just approached them and opened fire without reason.

Investigators believe all three incidents may be connected.

The investigation is ongoing.
