Portion of I-95 in the Pee Dee closed due to flood threat

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation has closed a portion of Interstate 95 in both directions in the Pee Dee.

**TRAFFIC ALERT: I-95 is being closed at the 175 mm in both directions due to high water levels at the bridges crossing the Great Pee Dee River. In addition, there are still segments of I-95 in North Carolina closed beginning at the 13 mm. (1 of 3)

I-95 SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC:

*Exit 181A ( Highway 38 East) to US 301 south to Florence.

I-95 NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC (LOCAL):

*Exit 164 US Route 52 north to US Route 401 north to US Route 15 north, to SC Route 38 east, to I-95.

According to information from SCDOT’s Twitter, I-95 is being closed at mile marker 175 in both directions due to high water levels at the bridges crossing the Great Pee Dee River. In addition, there are still segments of I-95 in North Carolina closed beginning at mile marker 13.

Detour routes for I-95 southbound traffic are Exit 181 A ( Highway 38 East) to US 301 south to Florence.

Detour routes for I-95 northbound traffic (local) are Exit 164 US Route 52 north to US Route 401 north to US Route 15 north, to SC Route 38 east, to I-95.

Detour routes for I-95 northbound traffic (thru state) from Georgia are I-95 northbound to I-26 westbound to I-77 northbound into North Carolina. From Florence, you can go I-20 westbound to I-77 northbound into North Carolina.

There are widespread road closures due to flooding on primary and secondary routes throughout the Pee Dee, according to the SCDOT.
