Showers and storms possible through tonight

Showers and storms will continue to fire up through this evening as the heat and humidity build! A few may become strong, with lightning and heavy downpours being the main threats. We have seen some damage reports of downed trees in Waynesville and Mitchell County so far. Also some minor flooding for Waynesville from the heavy downpours. Expect activity to calm down by 9PM, with mostly dry conditions tonight!

Friday will bring more hot temperatures and uncomfortable humidity! Highs will reach to near 90 in the Upstate and mid 80s for the mountains with more afternoon storms firing. Also remember to bring mosquito repellant if you plan to be outside for long!

The weekend is shaping up to be a classic summer set-up! Hot, humid days will be followed by a few late day t-storms. No washouts are expected, but have a backup plan for anything you do outside!

Rain chance will only be at around 20% for Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the Upstate, while the mountains will be at 30%.
