Seasonably hot and humid weather will linger through the rest of the week before rain chances increase again by the weekend.
This afternoon will be another hot one with temperatures near 90 at the beach and the lower and middle 90s across the Pee Dee. The heat index will climb to around 100 for most of the afternoon. While most areas will stay dry, a few spots may see a brief afternoon storm.
Similar weather will continue into Friday with a slight chance of a storm or two and afternoon temperatures in the lower and middle 90s.
The weekend will see an increase in thunderstorm chances, but will not be a washout. A weak cold front will move into North Carolina and stall. With the front nearby, and plenty of humidity in place, the chance of mainly afternoon and evening storms will increase for both Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances for both Saturday and Sunday are 40%. Temperatures will remain seasonably hot with readings in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
