Troopers: Hundreds without power in Greenville Co. after car strikes utility pole, driver flees scene

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) –

Hundreds of Duke Energy customers were without power in Greenville County Saturday afternoon.

Per the Duke Energy Outage Map, 595 customers near White Horse Road and Augusta Road are without power. The outage was first reported at 11:38 a.m.

Duke Energy says the cause of the outage was a vehicle damaging the equipment. The estimated time of restoration is 4:15 p.m.

According to the SC Highway Patrol Traffic Information System, there is a crash near the outage on Donaldson Road at Perimeter Road.

Troopers said the crash happened around noon Saturday. A driver had been traveling south on Donaldson Road before striking a utility pole and fleeing the scene of the crash.

A FOX Carolina viewer and witness said the vehicle struck a utility pole and then a group of bicyclists along that route. That information has not been confirmed by officials.
