SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say two teens killed in a South Carolina motel room were shot after they tried to rob a man at gunpoint.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Bobo said the man at the Days Inn in Spartanburg has cooperated with investigators and prosecutors are not charging him.
Bobo says three men came into the man’s hotel room Sunday afternoon, pointing a gun and hitting him.
Authorities say the man then got his gun and fired back, killing 19-year-old Kejuante Clarke and 18-year-old Bryson Miller.
Bobo said in a statement that the third teen escaped the room and deputies plan to charge him with burglary and weapon charges when he is found.
Bobo says deputies aren’t identifying the man in the room because he has been threatened on social media.
