FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Fire forces portion of Gervais Street to close

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) –

Crews from the Columbia Fire Department worked to put out a house fire on Gervais Street.

Officials said the fire occurred at a home on the 2200 block of Gervais Street.

At this point, there have been no reported injuries from the incident. However, the unoccupied home suffered significant damage.

Members of the Columbia Police Department along with emergency medical staff were on the scene to assist.

Although the fire is under control, motorists in the area are being redirected through Five Points as that portion of Gervais Street remains closed.. Use caution when traveling through the area.

Gervais Street has now reopened.
