A man whose body was found in the middle of a dirt road in Chesterfield County on Wednesday morning has been identified as 23-year-old Rashaad Rodrigo Jackson of Hartsville.
According to Sheriff Jay Brooks, deputies got a call about a body on the sand portion of Patrick Firetower Road at 11 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found Jackson shot to death. Brooks said he was shot multiple times in the head and chest.
Investigators believe there was a struggle sometime Wednesday morning after it rained that led to Jackson’s death.
“I just hate it for the family,” Sheriff Brooks said. “It ruins two families – the victim’s family, plus whoever did it when they go to jail.”
SLED is processing the crime scene. Jackson’s body will be taken for an autopsy Thursday in Newberry, SC.
This marks the seventh homicide in Chesterfield County this year.
