Gunnery Sergeant Brendan Johnson

Johnson’s father confirmed to NBC5 in Vermont that his son, 46, was among the victims.

“He had a great sense of humor, loved people, loved kids,” Kevin Johnson said. “He made people laugh.”

Navy Corpsman Ryan Lohrey

Lohrey’s friends describe him as a man with a passion for the military.

“He always told everybody he was going to be a Navy seal and I told him he was crazy enough to do it,” one of his best friends, Chris Parrish, said. “That was the first time he talked about it. He wasn’t scared or anything.”

Instead of becoming a Seal, he became a Navy Corpsman.

“That’s what he wanted to do. That’s what he signed up to do and that’s what would make him happy and that’s what made him happy,” his friend, Travis Forest, added.

Forest and Parrish said Lohrey leaves behind two young children.
