Man arrested in south Carolina plant shooting

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) – A man has been arrested in a shooting at a South Carolina plant that injured at least one person.

The Laurens County sheriff’s office told local media that 42-year-old David Jerome Butler of Simpsonville surrendered to officers Monday. Butler is charged with assault and attempted murder.

He is charged in Friday’s shooting at the Yanfeng Automotive plant in Fountain Inn.

Sheriff Don Reynolds said Butler was involved in a confrontation with a co-worker at the plant and walked out of the plant and returned with a gun.

Reynolds said the person who was shot was taken to a hospital but was not seriously injured.

Butler was expected to be in court Tuesday. It was not known if he has an attorney.
