Manhunt for two subjects who fled from Highway Patrol troopers near Johnsonville suspended

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A manhunt was suspended Thursday afternoon after two people fled on foot from Highway Patrol in the Johnsonville area Thursday morning.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office was assisting troopers in apprehending the subjects, according to Major Mike Nunn with the FCSO. A K-9 unit and aviation teams were involved.

The manhunt began after the two subjects fled from a van that was reportedly stolen from Georgetown County, according to Nunn. They ran from a field off Highway 51 into the wood line.

The active search was suspended after noon Thursday.
